Skydome Yurts
A simple yet magical dwelling with wooden lattice walls and radial rafters, a Yurt evokes a sense of the exotic. Originally the homes of the nomads of Central Asia the Yurts at Lough Mardal Lodge have been adapted for today and have been designed with the high-tech insulation, warmth and durability which is required for the occasionally temperamental weather on the north west coast of Ireland!​ All our Yurts are very well spaced ensuring seclusion and privacy and each has a luxurious 5-star hotel grade superking bed with heavy tog duvet, crisp white linen and Donegal tweed woollen blankets. They all have en suite toilets and are furnished sustainably with reclaimed, upcycled furniture and all have beautiful views of the surrounding bogland, lake, mountain and forestry. Lie in bed staring at the stars through your clear sky dome in front of your cosy wood-burning stove or sip a wine on the decking listening to the background hum of wildlife.

Shepherd's Hut
A Shepherd's Hut is a cosy little cabin traditionaly used by shepherd's as far back as the 15th century. Needing to keep a close eye on their sheep during lambing season these were used for sleeping`out with their flock, with wheels so it could be moved from field to field.
No sheep here - but plenty of deer! Our fully insulated Shepherd's Hut is very simply but luxuriously furnished with a large king size bed, crisp white linen, fluffed pillows and Donegal woollen tweed blanket. A little wood-burning stove ensures it stays warm and cosy. Sit out on the porch with a glass of wine and soak up the stunning lake view.

The Shepherd's Hut is off-grid, a true escape from the constant connectivity of modern life. Rechargeable lanterns and candles create a magical atmosphere in this incredibly cosy and romantic glamping getaway. It also has its own private toilet.

A limited number of Yurts are pet-friendly. A pet surcharge applies which can be booked as an Add-on in the booking process only if a pet-friendly yurt is available.

Pets are not permitted in the Shepherd's Hut.

Lough Mardal Lodge is self-catering however we do offer some food packs such as Full Irish Breakfast or Granola packs, our own organic Dexter beefburger pack and DIY Pizza packs. (48hrs notice is required).

Activities; Surf Lessons, SUP (lake or sea) and Beach Horse Riding can be booked with us during your stay.

Special Occasion; a box of chocolates or a beautiful bouquet of flowers can be waiting in your accommodation for you.
