There is nothing quite like staying in a Yurt. A simple yet magical dwelling with wooden lattice walls and radial rafters, it evokes a sense of the exotic. Originally the homes of the nomads of Central Asia the Yurts at Lough Mardal Lodge have been adapted for today and have been chosen for their high-tech insulation, warmth and durability which is required for the occasionally temperamental weather on the West Coast of Ireland!
All Yurts are well-spaced ensuring seclusion and privacy. Each is luxuriously furnished with a comfortable seating area and they are individually styled with sheepskins, woollen blankets, heavy 15 Tog duvets, fluffed pillows and crisp linen. All have beautiful views of lake, mountain and forestry.
Each Yurt comes with:
Luxurious Superking bed as standard with additional beds available for children
Wood-burning stove with a supply of firewood
Windows with beautiful views
Large clear dome kkylight
Lake, mountain and forest views
All bedding including crisp linen, warm winter duvets & Donegal woollen blankets
Sheepskin slippers (temporarily removed due to Covid-19)
Hot Water Bottles (temporarily removed due to Covid-19)
Outdoor private decking with seating
Own supply of plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery
The Lodge amenity building provides all guests with a fully-fitted kitchen, flushing-loos & wet room showers (no shared changing-rooms) as well as a beautiful big hang-out space with a big fireplace in which to kick back and zone out, read a book or chat with fellow guests.
There is no electricity in the yurt. Each yurt is assigned a secure locker in the Lodge for valuables and where mobile devices can be recharged. We also have a charging point for electric cars.
Lough Mardal Lodge offers the opportunity to truly escape from the white noise of modern living and constant-connectivity - we strongly recommend you lock up your gadgets and relax, unwind and disconnect during your stay! With that in mind, the Reciprocal Room in the Lodge is a gadget-free zone. There is a comfortable space in the Lobby where guests can use their devices.
