We don't have too many rules and regulations, there are just a few policies we ask all guests to be aware of:

  • Payment Terms:  We ask for full payment at time of booking

  • Cancellation policy: Payment is 100% refundable up to 14 days prior to arrival date, after which it is non-refundable. When a refund is issued a cancellation charge of €10/3% (whichever is the greater) is charged to cover card processing fees and admin. In case of a Force Majeure, where we are obliged to close unexpectedly (eg Covid19) or if you are no longer able to travel due to Covid19 government-imposed travel restrictions then our normal cancellation policy is suspended and all bookings that are effected, inside or outside the 14 days, will be offered a postponement or gift voucher for the value of the booking to be redeemed anytime in the future.

  • Bookings are currently restricted to residents of the island of Ireland only

  • Check-in time is from 3pm. Check-out is by 11am.

  • Parking is in the Car Park adjacent to The Lodge communal building. There is no vehicle access to individual yurts. Valuables should not be left in cars and are the individual's responsibility.

  • Secure lockers are provided for guests.

  • Lough Mardal Lodge cannot be held responsible for stolen or damaged property

  • Guests are liable for incidental damages in yurts or Lodge

  • Much of Lough Mardal Lodge is on peatland which is a rough and often wet terrain, guests are advised to bring sensible waterproof walking/hiking boots. Walking/hiking is at guests' own risk.

  • There are BBQ's available for guests' use, please note disposable BBQ's are not permitted.

  • There are two dog-friendly yurts - a pet surcharge of €20 per stay applies. If you require a dog-friendly yurt please select the Pet Add-On in the booking process. If this is not visible it means a dog-friendly yurt is not available. Dogs are not permitted up on furniture and must not be left unsupervised in the yurts.

  • You are welcome to explore the land and enjoy the beautiful views over Donegal Bay to the west from the top of Bradlieve Mountain.  Please remember that we are a working farm with rare breed Dexter cows and calves as well as donkeys and chickens.  Please keep dogs under control when out walking and keep you children closento you to. The donkeys and Dexters are friendly but, like all animals, act unpredictably when feeling threatened.

  • The key & key fob to your yurt must be left in your locker when checking-out, there is a €40 charge if a key/fob needs to be replaced.

  • Guests are asked to adhere to Lough Mardal Lodge waste, recycling and environmental policies (available here). We try to be as Low Waste as possible. As part of this we request that guests do not bring plastic bottles of water. We provide glass bottles which guests are free to fill with our pure well water, these bottles can be refilled as often as desired for the duration of their stay.

  • Children must be supervised at all times with particular caution around the campfire and lakes

  • Swimming, fishing or any lake-based or any on-site activity in general is at guests' own risk
