On 23rd of August 2019 we arrived for a two night glamping trip in a yurt at Lough Mardal, Co. Donegal. We were really excited after looking at the images online & having an expectation of what we would experience, what we were to see & encounter was beyond what a picture could portray. We arrived up to what we could only describe as a jewel in the bog land. The yurts are designed with upmost thought, exquisite interior consideration; precisely as described online ‘a little taste of bohemian luxury’. Friendship with other guests (and animals alike), building and strengthening relationships and earnest companionship is at the heart of Lough Mardal and strongly promoted in the Lodge, a detox from phones and the hustle bustle of busy city life with an intriguing book or a thrilling board game overlooking beautiful panoramic views of the lake and surreal surrounding landscape and that’s not to mention the amazing stonework of the fireplace! Lough Mardal is fully equipped with excellent showers & bathroom facilities. Walking the path with your lantern to make your way to the lodge adds to the magical atmosphere brought to your stay. The best part of our trip was sleeping under a blanket of stars provided by the skylight dome on the roof of the yurt, absorbing the tranquility of the yurt by candle light whilst relaxing by the heat of the stove in the heart of the hills of Donegal. Lough Mardal is located central to the very Irish cultural town of Donegal and surrounded by breathtaking beautiful beaches. It truly is the most magical hidden gem in the Wild Atlantic Way.
