Glamping at Lough Mardal Lodge is an other-worldly escape from the stresses of the modern world. On a lakeside setting immersed in nature and surrounded by beautiful scenery each Skydome Yurt offers tranquility, comfort and a little taste of bohemian luxury. Bright and spacious they are also well-spaced to ensure a real sense of seclusion and privacy. Our high-tech yurts are fully-insulated and open all year round, luxuriously furnished with extra warm winter duvets, crisp linen and Donegal woollen blankets. With your warm stove burning lie in bed staring up at the stars through your clear sky dome.
New this year we also have a Shepherd's Hut which is very simply yet luxuriously furnished with a wood-burning stove and lake view for a truly idyllic romantic stay.
A unique and beautiful eco buildingconstructed with strawbales and earth with a grass roof, the Lodge is a large communal hub with all the amenities for glamping guests. Its striking central lounge, the Reciprocal Room, with its exposed beams spiralling overhead is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the panoramic views of the lake, forestry and sweeping landscape. Or simply make a hot cup of tea and cosy-up on a sofa with a good book around the giant fireplace.
A nature lover's paradise, there are 90 private acres for you to roam and explore at Lough Mardal, from the damselfly-populated lake shoreline to precious blanket bog (the most celebrated of Ireland's peatlands). Fall asleep to the sound of the 'drumming' Snipe and wake up to the sound of the Cuckoo. Take a stroll through a wildflower meadow or hike up to the heather-covered hill 130m above sea level which offers panoramic views of Donegal Bay.
