Lough Mardal Lodge is a unique setting to go glamping in Ireland. Feel your shoulders drop as the modern world stresses disappear and are replaced by the tranquility of being immersed in nature and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Each Skydome Yurt offers calm, comfort and a little taste of bohemian luxury. Bright and spacious and family friendly they are also well-spaced to ensure a real sense of seclusion and privacy. Our high-tech yurts are fully-insulated and luxuriously furnished with superking beds, extra warm winter duvets, crisp white linen and Donegal woollen blankets. With your warm stove burning lie in bed staring up at the stars through your clear sky dome.
A unique and beautiful eco building constructed with strawbales and earth with a grass 'living' roof, the Lodge is a large communal hub with all the amenities for glamping guests. Its striking central lounge, the Reciprocal Room, with its exposed beams spiralling overhead is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the panoramic views of the lake, woodland and sweeping landscape. Or simply cosy-up with a hot cup of tea and a good book around the giant fireplace.
A stay in our cosy Shepherd's Hut is the most romantic of getaways. These were traditionally used by shepherd's to watch over their flock but you can sleep at ease here, no sheep. It is simply but luxuriously furnished with beautiful lake view. Its comfy kingsize bed has crisp white linen and handwoven Donegal tweed blankets. A wood-burning stove makes it extra snug.
Sit out on the veranda with a glass of wine, soak up the views and listen to the background hum of wildlife.
With 90 acres of beautiful bogland, wildflower meadows and heather-covered hills there is no shortage of space for you to wander and explore at Lough Mardal. At the top of the hill (130m above sea level) you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Donegal Bay... in the good company of our rare breed Dexter cows.
Fall asleep to the sound of the 'drumming' Snipe and wake up to the sound of the Cuckoo. Sit around the campfire and get primal with a beer and after dark when the stars come out try to name those constellations. Re-appreciate the simple pleasure that is the great outdoors, the unspoilt landscape and the serenity of the wide open spaces.
