"Few places in Ireland do it better..." The Irish Examiner

For every well-known tourist hot-spot there are a small handful of alternative accommodation providers, slightly off the beaten track, offering something that little bit different...

A Unique Eco Lodge in a Beautiful Lakeside SettingLuxury Yurt Glamping in Ireland

"Wow! What an amazing place Lough Mardal is. We had a fantastic stay in the most gorgeous and comfy yurt. Slept  like a baby in the peace and quiet. The Lodge is the most magnificent building. We'll be back." Veronica, Wicklow

"What a joy to wake up, open the door of the yurt and discover such a beautiful landscape in a quiet place. I highly recommend to anyone looking for solitude and calm." Julie, France

"The yurt we stayed in opened out onto a view of the lake and the mountains and coast beyond. Wake up, open the doors and go back into bed and suck in the view." Francis, London

"Your place is incredible. We are literally stuck for words!!" Rhona, Ireland

Lough Mardal Lodge is a unique setting to go glamping in Ireland. Feel your shoulders drop as  the modern world stresses disappear and are replaced by the tranquility of being immersed in nature and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Each Skydome Yurt offers calm, comfort and a little taste of bohemian luxury. Bright and spacious and family friendly they are also well-spaced to ensure a real sense of seclusion and privacy. Our high-tech yurts are fully-insulated and luxuriously furnished with superking beds, extra warm winter duvets, crisp white linen and Donegal woollen blankets. With your warm stove burning lie in bed staring up at the stars through your clear sky dome.

A unique and beautiful eco building constructed with strawbales and earth with a grass 'living' roof, the Lodge is a large communal hub with all the amenities for glamping guests. Its striking central lounge, the Reciprocal Room, with its exposed beams spiralling overhead is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the panoramic views of the lake, woodland and sweeping landscape. Or simply cosy-up with a hot cup of tea and a good book around the giant fireplace.

A stay in our cosy Shepherd's Hut is the most romantic of getaways. These were traditionally used by shepherd's to watch over their flock but you can sleep at ease here, no sheep. It is simply but luxuriously furnished with beautiful lake view. Its comfy kingsize bed has crisp white linen and handwoven Donegal tweed blankets. A wood-burning stove makes it extra snug.

Sit out on the veranda with a glass of wine, soak up the views and listen to the background hum of wildlife.

Surrounded by Nature

With 90 acres of beautiful bogland, wildflower meadows and heather-covered hills there is no shortage of space for you to wander and explore at Lough Mardal. At the top of the hill (130m above sea level) you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Donegal Bay... in the good company of our rare breed Dexter cows.

Fall asleep to the sound of the 'drumming' Snipe and wake up to the sound of the Cuckoo. Sit around the campfire and get primal with a beer and after dark when the stars come out try to name those constellations. Re-appreciate the simple pleasure that is the great outdoors, the unspoilt landscape and the serenity of the wide open spaces.

Why choose a five star hotel when you can choose a five billion star one.  Sleep under the stars and go glamping with all the comforts of home in a beautiful Skydome Yurt, surrounded by nature with lake, forest and mountain views. A magical experience which will create a uniquely romantic stay along with memories to last a lifetime.

Just a 12 minute drive from the Donegal coastline, some of Ireland's most beautiful beaches are on our doorstep. All routes in every direction involve a scenic drive.  There is plenty do to and see - beautiful places to visit include St. John's Point, Muckross Head, Glenveagh National Park, Sliabh League, Donegal Town or Belleek Pottery. And there's always the local pub for a trad session.

Perfectly located for outdoor adventure amongst the Irish North West’s most spectacular spots for surfing and body-boarding, scuba-diving and snorkelling, rock-climbing and beach horse-riding. There is also plenty of great cycling or hiking on one of the Wild Atlantic Way trails.
