Lakeside Eco Lodge with Luxury Yurt Glamping on the Wild Atlantic Way, Donegal, Ireland

As seen on Channel 4's 'Extraordinary Escapes'

~Open All Year~

For every well-known tourist hot-spot there are a small handful of alternative accommodation providers, slightly off the beaten track, offering something that little bit different...

Bright and spacious and family friendly they are also well-spaced to ensure a sense of seclusion and privacy. Our glamping yurts are fully-insulated and luxuriously furnished with superking beds, extra warm duvets, crisp white linen and Donegal woollen blankets. With your warm stove burning lie in bed staring up at the stars through your clear sky dome.

A unique and beautiful eco building constructed with strawbales and earth with a 'living' grass roof, the Lodge is a large communal hub with all the amenities for glamping guests. Its striking central lounge, the Reciprocal Room, with its exposed beams spiralling overhead is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the panoramic views of the lake, woodland and sweeping landscape. Or simply cosy-up with a hot cup of tea and a good book around the big fireplace.

A stay in our cosy Shepherd's Hut is the most romantic of getaways. These were traditionally used by shepherd's to watch over their flock but you can sleep at ease here, no sheep. It is simply but luxuriously furnished with a beautiful lake view. Its comfy kingsize bed has crisp white linen and a handwoven Donegal tweed blanket. A wood-burning stove makes it extra snug.

Sit out on the veranda with a glass of wine, soak up the views and listen to the background hum of wildlife.

With 90 acres of beautiful bogland, wildflower meadows and heather-covered hills you are totally immersed in nature. Inspired by this the Lodge has been built from the ground up in harmony with the natural environment and with sustainability a constant driving principle;  from the strawbale and earth communal building to the natural waste water system, from solar panels to compost loos and a Sustainability Strategy that influences all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Lodge.

Fall asleep to the sound of the 'drumming' Snipe and wake up to the sound of the Cuckoo. Re-appreciate the simple pleasure that is the great outdoors, the unspoilt landscape and the serenity of the wide open spaces.

Why choose a five star hotel when you can choose a five billion star one.  Sleep under the stars and come glamping with all the comforts of home, surrounded by nature with lake, forest and mountain views. Sit around the campfire and get primal with a stick and after dark when the stars come out try to identify those constellations.
A magical experience that appeals to both children and the child within.

Keep it simple and set off on a walk around Lough Mardal, a hike up the hill (130m above sea level) offers stunning panoramic views of Donegal Bay. Futher afield, just a 12 minute drive, you are on the epic Donegal coastline with some of Ireland's most beautiful beaches on our doorstep. All routes in every direction involve a scenic drive.  There is plenty do to and see - beautiful places to visit include St. John's Point, Muckross Head, Glenveagh National Park, Sliabh League, Donegal Town or Belleek Pottery. And there's always the local pub for a trad session and some great pub grub.

Perfectly located for outdoor adventure amongst the Irish North West’s most spectacular spots for surfing and body-boarding, scuba-diving and snorkelling, rock-climbing and beach horse-riding. There is also plenty of great cycling or hiking on one of the Wild Atlantic Way trails.
